What to expect
The initial session is a mutual assessment where we begin to decide whether therapy can be helpful or useful and if I am the right therapist for what is needed. I take some brief notes on biographical details; your current situation and important historical and medical events.
I then hear why you have come for therapy and whether we can identify your presenting issue and what difference you want therapy to make. Therapy is most effective if we have a sense of mutual commitment and collaboration. The importance of client motivation, determination and commitment have a significant influence on the outcome of therapy.
The therapy session is 1 hour. At the initial session, we will arrange the frequency of times and sessions, limits to confidentiality and cancellation policy.
