About my practice

Sandra Barry
Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Mindfulness Teacher

I am an existential humanistic psychotherapist and counsellor. My practice is based in Kinsale, Co. Cork and I offer both remote and face-to-face therapy.

Through compassion, empathy, understanding and acceptance I listen to and help you explore your concerns.
In our work together I place particular focus on positive growth, freedom, responsibility and choice.

At its’ core, my approach to psychotherapy and counselling allows you the space to develop your innate potential to grow, nurture and maintain strong and healthy relationships, first and foremost with yourself and flowing naturally from that, with others.

This practice base enables me to provide each client a personalised therapeutic experience.

Along with my private practice, my professional experience encompasses previous experience as a Student Counsellor at UCC and a number of years as a Cancer Support and Bereavement Counsellor at Cork ARC Cancer Support House. I facilitate courses for Arthritis Ireland for people impacted by chronic illness and conduct mindfulness based wellbeing programs both in community and workplace organisational settings. The aim of these research-based programs is to enhance self-care and wellbeing, promoting a reduction in symptoms of stress and anxiety.  I also teach 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I worked as a Registered General Nurse. Within nursing I have experience across palliative care, paediatric and general practice.
